My name is Victoria BOUGY.
I’m a freelance translator and home tutor.
Totally fluent in 3 languages: French, English and Portuguese, I translate mainly into French.
With 10 years of professional experience in Insurance, I have specialized in this field though I can translate anything else too.
On a regular basis, I translate or interpret for family members, friends and an association. Consequently, I well know the importance of a real meaningful translation and not only a word-to-word one.
In 2012, I started to do home tuition as an extra job. Sharing knowledge and helping others to express themselves in foreign languages is truly rewarding.

Easier said than done especially when we speak different languages!
Special medical grounds, DYS-type problems or heavy pressure from relatives can make learning more difficult. However difficult does not mean impossible! More often, we need to overcome our self-imposed barriers and this is the key to success.
There is no age limit to learn a foreign language. Everyone can be successful with method and investment.
I offer individual or collective sessions, face to face or by video call, which I articulate around 4 main skills:
My method is to adapt completely to the student’s needs, because each individual is different and each one learns differently. From the very first lesson, I assess the level and the needs of the student. Together, we set the level to reach and the goals to achieve it. Then, every session is “taylor-made”.
My classes are dynamic encouraging student’s active participation. I use a variety of aids and medias like : pictures, videos, music, literary and poetic texts, newspaper articles, games… There is something for every taste! Role-playing helps to developp oral communication.
From infant to grown-up, from beginner to advanced learner, by educational support or exam preparation, I am right beside you to make you Victorious!!!

Today college is finished. I needed home tuition when I was in secondary school because of the exam. Mrs BOUGY helped me very much. I doubled my scores in English that year. Then, in college i chose to follow Literacy courses, a series that would have been unattainable without Mrs BOUGY's help. Thanks to her lessons, i could manage it. During the exam (A-level English part) I remembered one of her advice that i keep in mind for 4 years now, saying : "When you cannot say something in such a way, try another way! You know how to do it, and this is a real asset!" This always proved useful. I knew i could do it and that i needed more self-confidence. Her lessons also taught me that. So, i want to say a big thank you to Mrs BOUGY because she has a lot to do with my choice of Literacy series and with the self-confidence i displayed at my exams.
Mrs BOUGY, thank you for being that patient and helping me during the most difficult times after my accident. You helped me to maintain my level for months during my 4th Class [équivalents : key stage 3 (UK) or 8th grade (USA)]. You're an excellent teacher that most students dream to have.
